It all started one day while I was looking through
fanfiction on Fanfiction.net. I was on a "Lord of the Rings" kick
because "Fellowship of the Ring" had just come out.
I admit it, I was a Legolas fangirl.
But once I started looking for fics, I was astounded at how many Mary-Sues and
self inserts there were. Inspired by some of the parodies already out there,
and knowing a lot about Mary-Sues, especially since I write them all the time,
I thought I'd try my hand at a parody of my own.
"Confessions of a Mary-Sue" was born. And much to her dismay, Lacey
was born.
After "Confessions" ended, I had thought about continuing it through
"Return of the King" or even a sequel to the first 'happy ending' I
wrote for it.
Neither finished or saw the light of day. My muse just wasn't interested.
Then I got hooked on "Harry Potter". I was already a "Buffy the
Vampire Slayer" fan.. and while surfing, I would see all these
Buffy/Potter crossovers. It caught the muse's attention. "The Goddess
Must Be Crazy" was brought to life.
Unfortunately, about three chapters until it was finished, the muse went into
a coma and other than a few bit fics and journal based role playing, my fanfic
'career' was dead. Will "Goddess.." ever be finished? Maybe. I know
how it ends. My muse just refuses to put it to print.
I was almost positive I wasn't going to write any more fanfic.
Then came "Supernatural" and the story of the Winchester brothers.
The season finale came on. I mourned.
The muse woke up and Lacey tried to hide.
The muse found her. But at some point through "The State of Denial &
Delusions", the muse dozed off and stayed that way. Again, I know how it
ends, but the hard part is always getting there.
Then I went and saw "Superman Returns". I love Superman. He's one of my
favorite characters. But as much as I enjoyed the movie, I found it flawed.
I hated Lois Lane. This was not a good thing, no. In nearly all other
incarnations, Lois Lane is one of my favorite characters of all time. I ship
Lois/Clark in virtually all other fandoms. But I just couldn't with this
universe. Then the brief little scenes of Lacey in Metropolis started
filtering into my head.
To save my sanity, I wrote them out. Thus "Ten Things That Haven't Happened"
was born. It was partially a way to get the muse to shut up and to evolve
Lacey to a new place in her life and to give her an "ending".
But then more bunnies came out to play and "Ten More Things" was written.
Lacey fell further into the Mary-Sue trap, but you know.. shit happens. I
found that I really did like writing Lacey in the Superman Returns verse
(which I sometimes call the MetroSueVerse.. I'm weird) so I started work on
another sequel, "Playground Twist". Unlike the other fics there, it was once
again first person from Lacey. It grew.. to weird places. It's currently
another work in progress, and it's not on fanfiction, net. Mostly because I
don't want to post another unfinished product and there are chances I may
modify it all to make a different sequel completely.
"Will It Blend?" is my little love letter to those blasted Blendtec Blender
vids on youtube. I can't help it, I love them to death. It was simple and
insane oneshot. The time wasted to write it was worth it for me, lol.
Legal Stuff
I do not own...
Lord of the Rings. That belongs to the Tolkien people and Newline Cinema and
such. Not me.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer/Angel: The Series all belong to Joss Whedon and
whoever else has them now. It still isn't me.
Harry Potter belongs to J.K Rowling, who is again, not me.
Supernatural belongs to The CW and I think Eric Kripke. But again, NOT ME.
Superman Returns, Superman, Lois Lane, etc, belong to DC Comic, Warner
Brothers, and I think the families of Joe Shuster and Jerry Siegel. It's hard to keep track these days... Either way it's still not me.
Imp 13 belongs to Weirdbard.
I do own the following...
Lacey, Amalthea, Nerissa, and a lot of other 'original' plot devices.
The effort gone into writing these drugged up fics.
A box of crayons and some old She-Ra coloring books.
